The MDT has taken the initiative to provide a service to all professional mountain based guides so that prospective employers or clients can ensure that the guide is appropriately qualified in terms of the applicable laws in South Africa. This has come about as there is no presently functional industry association representing Professional Guides in SA and it made sense for the MDT to fill this role in the interim.

If YOU would like to be listed on this page, please submit the following information to the MDT Administrator. All submissions must be in hard copy and certified true copies of the originals.

bulletCertified copy of your identity document or passport.
bulletWork permit if not a South African citizen.
bulletCertified copy of your National Qualification issued by THETA or a certified copy of the certificate issued by your THETA approved training provider.
bulletCertified copy of your DEAT Guides card (both sides) or a original letter from your Provincial DEAT Registrar stating you are a registered guide.
bulletCopy of your MDT award. (This must be valid and current)
bulletCertified copy of your current valid first aid certificate.
bulletA completed MDT Guides registration form.
bulletClearly identifiable head & shoulders photo. (Preferably an action shot)

The cost for this service is R25. You will be invoiced for this amount, so please supply a valid email address to send the invoice to.
